GAMEPLAY

Breath of the Wild is an open-world action-adventure game. Players will explore the Kingdom of Hyrule while controlling Link. Breath of the Wild has no defined entrances or exits to areas within the game, as evidenced by the fact that players are given little direction and are encouraged to explore freely. Encourage non-linear gameplay. Breath of the Wild introduces a consistent physics engine to the Zelda series, allowing players to approach problems in a variety of ways rather than trying to find a single solution. The game also integrates a “chemistry engine” that defines the physical properties of most objects and controls how objects interact with the player. For example, metal objects cause strong lightning strikes during thunderstorms.

Therefore, during a storm, players must be careful not to carry metal with them, but they can also throw metal objects at enemies to attract lightning. These design approaches generally enable unstructured, interactive worlds that reward experimentation and allow for non-linear story completion. As Link, the player can perform actions such as running, climbing, swimming, and paragliding, but Link’s health is limited. Link can obtain items from the environment, including weapons, food, and other resources. Unlike previous Zelda games, weapons and shields degrade and eventually break as you use them. Many items have multiple uses. For example, wooden weapons can ignite fire, wooden shields can intercept incoming enemy arrows, and shields can be used as makeshift snowboards.

Players can obtain food and elixir ingredients by hunting animals, collecting wild fruits, and collecting parts from defeated enemies. By combining and cooking food and ingredients, players can create meals and elixirs that replenish Link’s health and stamina, or provide temporary stat bonuses such as increased health or resistance to heat and cold Masu. An important tool in Link’s arsenal is the “Seeker Slate. ” This is a magical slate that can be used to mark waypoints on the in-game map and take photos of materials, creatures, and enemies. These images are saved in your in-game overview and can be used to find valuable items. The Sheikah Slate allows players to create remote-controlled bombs, manipulate metal objects, form blocks of ice on water, and stop objects in time.

In combat, players can lock on to targets for more precise attacks, and certain key combinations enable advanced offensive and defensive moves. Players can also defeat enemies without weapons, such as by rolling rocks off cliffs into enemy positions. One of his most important gameplay mechanics in Breath of the Wild is his ability to climb almost anything in the game. This allows players to reach areas without having to follow a specific path. In addition to exploration, players can also undertake quests and challenges to obtain specific benefits. Activating a tower or shrine adds a waypoint to the map that players can warp to at any time. Activating a tower also adds an area to the map, but the location name is not added until the player explores that area. Shrines can be found throughout Hyrule, offering a variety of challenges, from puzzles to battles against robot opponents.
