Minoria (NSP, XCI) ROM + v1.0.4 Update

Minoria is an indie Metroidvania game developed by Brazilian studio Bombservice and published by DANGEN Entertainment. It was released on August 27, 2019, for Windows, and on September 10, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It is a spiritual sequel to the Momodora series with 2.5D graphics.

It has a similar gothic horror tone as Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight and revolves around warrior nuns who are sent into the ruins of the Kingdom of Ramezia to free Princesses who were kidnapped by heretical witches. The game received mixed reviews from critics, who praised it for its combat mechanics and graphics but criticized it for its “uneven” quality and short length.

Minoria is the latest and most ambitious game from Bombservice, and a spiritual sequel to the Momodora series, from the same studio. Fans of Momodora will find familiar aspects in the design and gameplay elements, as they master the ins and outs of parries, dodges, and a variety of different spells. The presentation has evolved to an HD format, with aesthetics mixing 2D hand-painted backgrounds and cel-shaded characters.

The story takes place during the fourth Witch War. It is a time of fanatical religious fervor. The Sacred Office, a powerful organization leading an Inquisition against heresy, purges the sinners who threaten humanity. Those responsible for conducting a mysterious ceremony that contradicts the rules of the Church are labeled “witches.”

Set forth with Sisters Semilla and Fran, missionaries in the Church’s service, on their journey to thwart the witches’ ceremony and protect the common folk from heresy that endangers the status quo.

GAMEPLAY AND PLOT

Like Bombservice’s previous series Momodora, Minoria is a Single-Player side-scrolling game in the metroidvania genre. The game’s story follows Sister Semilla, a nun of The Inquisition, who, along with her assistant Sister Anna Fran, has traveled to Orimier, the capital city of Ramezia, to take part in the 4th Witch War. Taking the role of Sister Smilla, the player will explore a breadth of locations, fighting a variety of Bosses and collecting Items along the way.

The game revolves around two nuns, the main character, Sister Semilla, and her companion Sister Fran. They are sent into the ruins of the Kingdom of Ramezia to rescue Princesses who were captured by heretical witches.
